The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 premiers Sunday October 26

“The Voice of the Philippines” is back on Philippine TV with its premier this Sunday October 26.

New batch of extraordinary Filipino artist will again showcase their singing prowess in the much awaited Season 2 of the Philippines most watched singing competition, “The Voice of the Philippines.”

Season 1 coaches Apl de Ap, Bamboo, Sarah Geronimo and Ms. Lea Salonga are all back in this new season to be the eyes and ears to upcoming Pinoy singing superstars.

Hosts Toni Gonzaga and Luis Manzano expressed their excitement in hosting the new season of The Voice, which will start on Sunday, October 26 with the blind auditions.

"I'm really happy about the hosts of Season 1 and Kids teaming up. Of course, I'm proud to be back too, since this format is really close to my heart. We get to discover more talents and I'm sure it's going to be an exciting season," Toni said during the press conference for the show Thursday, October 23.

"In The Voice Kids, we were impressed by big voices coming from little children, and that proves that innate talent of pinoy singers. This season, I got to travel the country and I saw the amazement and joy in each artist when I gave them the envelope. During the blinds, I was surprised and checked some of them. So I got to know their inspirations and motivations," said Luis, who hosted The Voice Kids

The Voice of the Philippines Season 2 will still be hosted by Toni Gonzaga, Alex Gonzaga, Robi Domingo with the addition of Voice Kids host Luis Manzano.

“I’m really happy about the hosts of Season 1 and Kids teaming up. Of course, I’m proud to be back too, since this format is really close to my heart. We get to discover more talents and I’m sure it’s going to be an exciting season,” said Toni.

For Season 2, coaches Apl, Sarah, Bamboo, and Lea will have to assemble 14 artists to form a team by the end of the blind auditions. The new season will also introduce the “steal,” which will definitely add spice and excitement to the competition. In the battle rounds, each coach will have to pit two artists against each other and choose only one that will move on to the next round. If a coach likes an artist, he or she can ‘steal’ the losing artist. If two or more coaches like the losing artist, the artist, just like in the blind auditions, gets to choose which coach or team to transfer to.

“This season is going to be more thrilling, and that’s going to fuel an even intense competition among the coaches. Palaban lahat. I’m glad to be of service and show the latest happenings in the program. There are lots of great singers this season,” said Robi.

"Hanggang Wakas", The Voice PH Grand Champion Mitoy Yonting's debut album

The Voice Of The Philippines’ first grand winner, Michael 'Mitoy' Yonting,  held an album launch with a press conference last Saturday, August 9, 2014 at  the Newport Mall, Resort World Manila.

Music has always been part of Mitoy’s life growing up listening to his father’s collection of Elvis Presley, Paul Anka, and Neil Sedaka. Singing along to these albums honed his interest and has been singing ever since. But he wasn’t just a singer.

Mitoy surprised everyone and emerged as a powerful vocalist – far from the comedian he once was. His voice brought him places but his perseverance and faith took him farther than he’d ever hoped for.

A natural person, born to entertain, cracking jokes on the side, making use of his wide vocal range to wow audiences from his hometown Pangasinan. Eventually, he formed the band Draybers and have been playing gigs all over the country.

During his press conference and debut album launch, he shared his life stories before being the grand winner of The Voice of the Philippines.

Through his hard work and his undeniable talent, people noticed his unique voice. After joining TV contests, he landed several roles on different comedy shows like H3O Ha Ha Ha Over along with Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, and Gladys Guevarra. He also became known in the noontime show Eat Bulaga along with the character Chuchay (played by Gladys Guevarra). The tandem became a hit and further showcased Mitoy’s pipes and comedic timing. That early, he was driven to do all sorts of jobs while gigging to provide for his family. And sometimes it wasn’t enough.

He kept working and performing until he was called to audition for The Voice Of The Philippines. Mitoy’s The Voice journey almost didn’t happen.

“Sa totoo lang, wala akong planong sumali, dahil medyo may edad na nga ako. May mga tao na nag-encourage sa akin, sa huli na-kumbinse din ako,” And he impressed everyone, especially his world-renowned coach Lea Salonga, whom has nothing but praises about him.

“Hindi ko malilimutan yung sinabi sa akin ng isang popular na tao sa industriya: ‘Pagkatapos [mong manalo] ng The Voice finals, ngayon lang naging totoo yung essence ng contest,” he shared. It was a tough competition, but his old and new fans rallied behind him every step of the way.

After winning The Voice of the Philippines. Mitoy was one of the cast of Home Sweetie Home, ABS-CBN's sitcom in January 2014. And there, he is now an actor in teleseries and movies.

Winning the competition made one of his biggest dreams come true – getting signed by a major label.

His debut album "Hanggang Wakas" was finally released by MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines).  “Hanggang Wakas” featuring :

“Pinaikot-ikot (the hit carrier single written by Vehnee Saturno)

“Pangakong Tapat” (Aster Adriano)

 “Ikaw Hanggang Wakas”

 “Magulang” featuring Bassilyo

 “Kaibigan”

“Handog” (his fave especially his version of Florante's song

And an ode to his incredible life as well as

“Minahal Kita”

“Solitaire”

“Hahabol-habol”

It also includes “Somewhere”- his duet with his coach, Tony Award winner Ms. Lea Salonga as well as his medley of Air Supply hits- “Every Woman In The World”, “I Can Wait Forever” and “Here I Am”.

Mitoy continues to connect to more audiences worldwide, through his songs and his story. As wide as his vocal range, his future promises even broader possibilities for him. And everyone awaits his next big move!

Here are videos I did during the album launch as he sings songs from the Hanggang Wakas album.

“Hanggang Wakas”, the new album from Mitoy Yonting is now out under MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines) in CDs at Astroplus and Odyssey outlets and digital downloads via spinnr.ph and iTunes. It can also be streamed via Deezer and Spotify.

Enjoy Music with Smart SPINNR - PH's first mobile-linked all-in music service

Music is the universal language of mankind and music touches us emotionally. I love music as ever, one of great quotes I love about music from Plato, “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”

And here's more to enjoy music, to be inspired and to have total awesome experience!

Smart Music launches SPINNR - PH's first mobile-linked all-in music service. After unveiling Smart Music in July this year, leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) brings the promise of making music more enjoyable to more Filipinos to a higher level with the launch of SPINNR - the all-new everything-music site that serves up the "total music experience.”

The first of its kind in the country, SPINNR powered by Smart Music offers more than just music downloads. It makes possible unlimited music streaming at the most affordable rates, playlist customization and access, and the best download discounts.

SPINNR is accessible via web and mobile browser, and with the new SPINNR Android app, music access, discovery and personalization are easier than ever before.
"When we introduced Smart Music, we promised to give Filipino music fans not just the most affordable music downloads and the largest music catalog, but also the total music experience," said Charles A. Lim, Smart's executive vice president and head of wireless consumer business. "SPINNR is the fulfillment of that promise, and we're excited to introduce this service that will further infuse music in the Filipinos' way of life."

With SPINNR, Smart will be the first to offer in the country a music-streaming subscription service with unlimited access to more than 3 million songs from the catalogs of worldwide music leaders MCA Music, Inc. (internationally known as Universal Music Group, Inc.); and Sony Music Entertainment, through a partnership with local licensee Ivory Music and Video.

"For just P15 for two weeks, that's Php1 a day, SPINNR users can easily subscribe to a package via the site or the app to enjoy unlimited full-track streaming of the widest selection of songs," said Mellissa Limcaoco, head of Smart's Innovation and Product Development group. "They can simply click to listen to all available songs - from the current chart-toppers of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake and One Direction; to the classic oldies, hard-to-find tracks and OPM favorites."

The SPINNR Plus 15 package also offers a 20% discount for full song downloads - further lowering down SPINNR's most affordable download rate of P10-P15 per song. Other membership packages are, SPINNR Plus 7 (P7 for 7 days, with 10% download discount) and SPINNR Plus Premium (P29 for 30 days, with 30% download discount). The SPINNR Plus VIP (P49 for 30 days) offers 50% song download discounts plus first and exclusive access to Smart Music's events, promos and other perks.

"SPINNR is also taking music discovery to the next level by making it more interactive and social. Aside from being able to listen to predefined or create your own playlists, you can also get recommendations based on your likes and you can even post your favorite songs on Twitter and Facebook to let you express how you feel through music," added Limcaoco.

"The soul of the SPINNR service is how you manage and enjoy your music, plus get added music perks through your own personal account - your SPINNR membership," said Lim. "By linking your Smart, Talk 'N Text or Sun Cellular mobile number, you can securely log-in and avail of subscription packages and purchase songs by paying through your prepaid load or charging to your postpaid bill. No need for credit cards."

"And because you can log-in via web, mobile or app through a single account, your activities are reflected in all of these portals, making your music library more accessible and more mobile,' he added.
SPINNR’s music streaming feature addresses the evolving listening habits especially of young music lovers who prefer the streaming experience over downloading the music tracks on their phones. And with Smart’s expansive 4G coverage across the Philippines, music fans will enjoy fast and seamless streaming experience wherever they are in the country.

But aside from having "anytime, anywhere" access to their favorite music, SPINNR members can also have VIP access and meet-and-greet privileges in the most anticipated concerts and music events by both local and international artists. Members also get access to exclusive content and the chance to download tracks and albums as soon they are released.

"We envision SPINNR as a community of Filipino music-lovers having access to the best and the biggest collection of music anytime, anywhere through their mobile," said Limcaoco. "And we will design our programs and activities - whether music festivals, artist engagements, independent music production and promotion - to cater to those who have music deeply integrated in the way they live life. SPINNR is music made awesome."

A preview of the Smart Music experience through SPINNR will be seen in upcoming big music events happening in the Philippines. For the One Republic concert tour, SPINNR will have lucky members experience VIP treatment and an all-access pass to the concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

SPINNR will also give one lucky Directioner (One Direction fan) a chance to bond with the British pop group through a one-hour Google Hangout when the group launches its new album through a global webcast sometime in November.

Powering SPINNR, Smart Music will also launch a music advocacy campaign that will promote responsible use of music content, and for aspiring musicians, hold clinics that will have renowned producers and artists teach them to write, produce and market their own music.

SPINNR is offering first-time users to enjoy unlimited music streaming at no cost for their first 15 days.

Registration is open to all Smart, Talk 'N Text and Sun Cellular subscribers via web or mobile browser or via the app from Google Play.

Michael "Mitoy" Yonting is the first winner of The Voice of the Philippines

Michael "Mitoy" Yonting , the 42-year-old veteran band vocalist, was named the first-ever winner of “The Voice of the Philippines” during the hit TV show’s grand finale at Resorts World Manila, Sunday, September 29.
Yonting, a member of Team Lea, received 57.65% of the votes to beat Team Sarah's Klarisse de Guzman as the two artists faced off for a final showdown after garnering the highest percentage of text and online votes plus the iTunes and truetone downloads.
Before the poll for the top two artists opened, their individual scores were reset back to zero.

For the finals, the artist who got the higher percentage of public votes was named the winner of “The Voice of the Philippines.” And Mitoy got it!

Team Bamboo's Myk Perez and Team Apl's Janice Javier were the other two contestants in the Top 4 in the much-awaited finale of ABS-CBN’s hit talent search.
An emotional Yonting thanked all the ecstatic crowd before doing a reprise of his Top 2 performance of The Beatles’ “Help.”

Congratulations Mitoy!

Here's more about Mitoy:
Michael "Mitoy" Yonting is a Filipino band singer from Pangasinan / Sampaloc, Manila.
Mitoy discovered his passion for music at a young age. Like most artists, he actively pursued a career in the music industry but luck gave him half-a-wish. The young Mitoy back then had joined various televised talent competition shows that lead to various television appearances. He even earned a slot at a noontime show as a comedian-singer, but sadly, his career did not reach a full steam.

To raise a family, Mitoy went to Japan and other countries to work as a band singer. Later on, he came home and went to play his for his fellow countrymen. Today, Mitoy is with the band The Draybers where he plays regularly at Resorts World Manila. Because of his exposure to different and various races, Mitoy and his band learned to speak little and sing foreign songs/languages, including Japanese.

Mitoy joined the competition to mollify youthful dreams, make a career, and maybe win an awesome trophy.

Mitoy was the winner of 2012 Aliw Awards Best Group Performer in Hotel, Music lounges and Bar - DRAYBERS BAND.
