Miss Philippines Earth 2014 Kicks Off at SM

The candidates for Ms. Philippines Earth 2014 was presented to the media and the public last Wednesday, April 2, at the SM Megamall Events Hall.

Ms. Philippines Earth 2014 candidates take over SM Supermarket Megamall and the Mega A Event Center to show everyone just what “beauty for a cause” is all about. More than beauty and brains, delegates of the Ms. Philippines Earth have green advocacies that separate them from the rest of the pageant world.

SM Supermarket, SM Hypermarket and Savemore Market will the platforms for the Ms. Philippines Earth 2014 in spreading environmental awareness among shoppers as they host several pre-pageant events.

The event was highlighted by a ramp modeling contest for the candidates, showcasing their SM green eco-bags wherein Patrixia Sherly Santos of Albay came out victorious. While Mabel Joy Verceles who represents Quezon City sold the most number of eco-bags for the SM Greenbag challenge.

Join the M.O.B. (My Own Bag) aims to encourage shoppers to reuse their shopping bags. The delegates will also serve as ambassadresses of the SM Greenbag, the first reusable bag in the country, by encouraging more and more shoppers to choose and reuse. Hand in hand, the partnership between the SM Food Retail Group and Ms. Earth continues to bring us closer to a cleaner and greener tomorrow.

Towards this year’s crown, SM Supermarket, SM Hypermarket, and Savemore Market have laid a green path to help this year’s delegates spread environmental awareness across thousands of people that goes to the stores. 

Fun games, exciting trivia, and an exhilarating presentation especially prepared by the girls are all spread across a schedule that optimizes their time as they compete to become this year’s Ms. Philippines Earth. 

The delegates will take on SM’s Cooking Challenge on SM Supermarket and SM Hypermarket Fairview on April 11, do good deeds on Easter Sunday also at SM Supermarket and SM Hypermarket Fairview and join the 5-day Sale to promote green initiatives at SM Supermarket San Lazaro and SM Hypermarket Bicutan on May 2.

The Grand Coronation Night is on May 11 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Miss Philippines Earth 2012

Miss Philippines Earth 2012, the 12th edition of the advocacy-driven Miss Philippines Earth beauty pageant , will be held on May 27, 2012.
Miss Philippines Earth aims to give a strong emphasis on environmental awareness programs together with the Miss Earth Foundation. This is the most relevant beauty pageant in the Philippines where the participants and winners work on the environmental-social-humanitarian advocacy of the pageant.
The winner of Miss Philippines Earth 2012 will serve as the Ambassador to environmental protection campaigns in the country, and represent the Philippines to one of the biggest international beauty competitions - the Miss Earth Pageant.
Miss Philippines Earth 2011 Athena Mae imperial will crown her successor who will represent the Philippines in the international Miss Earth 2012 beauty pageant which continues to build its reputation as the most relevant beauty event in the world, setting a legacy of beauty and responsibilityMiss Philippines Earth 2012 grand title and four other titles of equal importance and with the same rank will be crowned.
Tarhata Clio Shari Rico Miss Philippines Eco Tourism 2011 Tarhata Clio , Miss Philippines Fire 2011 Michelle Gavagan , Miss Philippines Air 2011 Jonavi Raisa Quiray , and  Miss Philippines Water 2011 Murielle Adrienne Orais will crown their respective successors.

Miss Ecuador Wins Miss Earth 2011


Miss Ecuador Olga Alva crowned as the Miss Earth 2011 at the coronation night in UP Diliman during the Coronation Show on Dec. 3. The 23-year-old beat out contestants from 84 other countries to win the competition.


Miss Ecuador, Olga Alava, was the stunning beauty  accepted her award wearing a glittering white gown with silver rhinestone embellishments.


Alava is a native of Guayaquil. She is a model and an international business graduate as well as a student of Asian culture, who studied in China for a year and speaks fluent Mandarin.

The exotic beauty presented an ecological project for safeguarding Ecuador's mangroves. She also acts as an advocate for the protection of the Yasuni biosphere reserve in her native country.
The Philippines’ representative, Athena Mae Imperial,  was hailed as Miss Water.

Caroline Medina of Venezuela was named Miss Fire while Driely Araujo of Brazil was crowned Miss Air.



Miss Ecuador impressed judges with her answer on why education must be the priority of world leaders in promoting environmentalism. 

As this year’s title-holder, it is her duty to be an ambassador for the environment.



Miss Philippines still stood out wearing a red gown. Miss Venezuela looked like a real-life Barbie doll with her pink sequined gown.
 




“I will continue working for the environment. I’m very proud to represent my country and have this crown. I’m very happy,” Miss Ecuador told members of the press after the pageant. 

Miss Ecuador is happy for the Filipinos' support and warm welcome since they arrived in the country for the pageant's activities. She added that all of the contestants are qualified for the crown. She hopes that the candidates continue their advocacy for the environment.

ope they can still help me and work with me. They’re here for a purpose. I hope they continue protecting the environment,” Miss Ecuador said.

"Celebrating Forests for People" was the slogan of this year's Miss Earth pageant, in an effort to raise awareness of the effects of climate change. Miss Ecuador also took home a cash prize of $20,000 along with other rewards.
