Solaire Celebrates The Mid-Autumn Festival With Special Homemade Mooncakes

Solaire Resort & Casino celebrates the autumn equinox and the fullness of the moon with an assortment of Homemade Mooncake offerings to please every palate. The traditional Baked Mooncakes come in a box of 2 and 4. Each set of four Baked Mooncakes will feature a unique music box packaging and has two variants: the regular box of 4, and a premium box of 4 which includes three special sauces. A little quirkier, Snow Skin Mooncakes come in a set of 5 placed in a miniature fridge.

The Baked Mooncakes come in 4 varieties to choose from. All feature double egg yolk centers complemented by an assortment of rich and flavorful pastes. The red bean paste mooncake is given a twist with dried orange skin, giving the classic a pop of citrus. On the other hand, the white lotus paste mooncake remains to be a luxury for its silky, and rich qualities. Another is the black sesame lotus paste kind which parades a nuttier and more earthy taste, while the ube paste version gives the classic a local touch that is both a familiar and an unexpected treat.

Snow Skin Mooncakes are a popular choice for those in search of unique and creative pairings. Ingredients from fruits, nuts, down to spirits were thoughtfully selected to create a collection of 5 uniquely complex tastes. The mango paste and dried mango snow skin mooncake exhibits the versatility of the popular Philippine fruit, while the raisin and Ang Pili nut lotus paste version exudes a balance between a buttery almond fullness and plummy notes. The custard paste and Palet Noir chocolate snow skin mooncake gives an appealing bittersweet bite, and the strawberry snow skin mooncake with lotus paste and rum hazelnut chocolate is a combination of flavors that render varying degrees of sweet, and a nutty effect. For a bit more zest, the champagne paste and dried apricot snow skin mooncake lends the senses a nectarine and tart excitement.

These delectable homemade mooncakes will be available for purchase from August 2 until September 13, 2019 at Red Lantern, House of Zhou, Oasis Garden Café, Fresh, The Patisserie, and The Food Court’s Bakery. Box prices start at Php 2,300.00 for a Box of 2 Baked Mooncakes, Php 3,900.00 for a Box of 4 Baked Mooncakes, Php 5,300.00 for a Premium Box of 4 Baked Mooncakes with Red Lantern Special Sauces, and Php 3,600.00 for a set of 5 Snow Skin Mooncakes including a small chiller. READY. SET. SHOP GUAM!

It’s that time of the year again. Fairy lights on house windows, suspicious-looking pine trees line up mall entrances, Christmas delicacies sold in random street corners, and Jose Mari Chan songs being played in public spaces. The Christmas season is officially upon us. But if you ask any true-blue Filipino; “what’s the one thing they look forward to during the holiday season?”, they would immediately tell you - Christmas shopping.

The Philippines is notorious for celebrating the Christmas season very early. In fact, most Filipinos start getting into the holiday spirit as early as September. Therefore, malls and retail centers start to advertise nationwide sales when the BER months show up in the calendar - to the excitement of Filipinos everywhere.

Though it may seem fun, holiday shopping in Metro Manila is actually a stressful and tedious process. The amount of people who go out to scour malls for good deals is beyond crazy. Traffic is bad and trying to get a parking slot is excruciatingly time-consuming. But what if your next favorite shopping destination is only a 3-hour flight away? Wouldn’t that be better than getting stuck in a 3-hour jam in Metro Manila? More so, imagine going shopping and having an online directory of all the promos and sale offers in your phone, doesn’t that sound like the most convenient thing ever?

Shop Guam e-Festival is a mobile app-driven shopping campaign that combines the fun of shopping in a mall with the convenience and ease of online shopping. How does it work? One just has to download the Shop Guam app, browse through the offers, visit any of the participating stores, and present the in-app coupons upon making a purchase inside the store.

The best thing about Shop Guam is the plethora of choices and massive discounts from its participating retail outlets. From luxury labels to commercial brands, the campaign has something for every discerning palate. Whether you like to splurge on Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, or go bargain shopping in Ross and Macy’s; Guam has the answer to all of you’re shopping needs this holiday season. And since you’re already on vacation, make sure to check the Shop Guam app for cool happenings and fun events on the island. Experience the best that Guam has to offer.

So what are you waiting for? Book your flight now and fly to Guam! You can choose from any of our three air carriers that regularly fly to the island: Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air, and United Airlines. So start your holiday shopping and catch the Shop Guam e-Festival from November 10, 2018 to February 10, 2019.

Make sure to follow Guam Visitors Bureau’s official Facebook and Instagram pages (@VisitGuamPH) for the offers, updates, and promos.

The Shop Guam mobile app is free to download on iOS and Android.

Coca-Cola 5by20 Artisans present Miss Universe candidates with upcycled neckpieces

Beautifully handcrafted neckpieces by the Artisan Women of Tondo made from upcycled Coca-Cola pull tabs recently took center stage during one of the preliminary events for the 65th Miss Universe Pageant. The artisan women presented each candidate with her very own neckpiece during a sunset cruise around Manila Bay and a dinner at the exclusive Pico de Loro Cove at Hamilo Coast in Batangas.

Beyond the glitz and glamour that surrounds the prestigious Miss Universe event is its heart – women empowering women. During the sunset cruise, the candidates took the time to talk with the artisan women to know their stories and admire their handiwork, while also sharing their personal experiences and journey through the pageant.

“This is a great way of showcasing the artistry of the Filipino women artisans to the world and it also highlights how women are contributing to the empowerment of other women, wherever they may be in the globe,” said Atty. Adel Tamano, Coca-Cola Philippines Vice President for Public Affairs and Communications.

Each of the neckpieces was individually crafted by the women artisans in their workshop located in Tondo, a district in Manila known as one of the most densely populated and economically-challenged areas in the country. The work of art they produce provides additional income for the artisans. The women engaged in the workshop are mostly single mothers and sole bread-winners; they play a challenging role in order to support their respective families.

The Artisan Women of Tondo is among the various women economic empowerment programs supported by Coca-Cola Philippines under the 5by20 global initiative. The women artisan program was made possible in partnership with ASA Philippines Foundation, one of the leading local microfinance institutions in the country that help uplift the poorest of the poor communities.

“In line with its commitment to empower women across the globe under the 5by20 initiative, Coca-Cola will continue to provide an enabling environment for women in its value chain so they can help themselves and their families become sustainable, and uplift their communities,” said Gilda Custodio-Maquilan, Coca-Cola Philippines 5by20 Lead, Sustainability and Community Affairs Manager.

Other than neckpieces and accessories, the artisan women also produce handbags, clutches, and other home décor from the pull tabs found in Coca-Cola beverage product cans. The Artisan Women of Tondo, through the help of Coca-Cola Philippines and its partners, is planning to further expand its product line and market reach in order to achieve sustainable livelihood.

The Coca-Cola 5by20 Artisans is part of the global initiative of the Company to empower 5 million women around the world by 2020. In the Philippines, the Company is enabling thousands of underprivileged women through the 5by20 Artisans and the 5by20 Sari-Sari Store Training and Access to Resources (STAR) Program.

For more information about the artisan women of Tondo and their products, visit Gifts That Give Back on Facebook.

Candidates of the 65th Miss Universe Pageant admired the beautiful neckpieces they received from the Coca-Cola 5by20 Artisans. Each neckpiece is made out of the pull tabs from canned beverages of Coca-Cola.

Candidates were unable to resist the urge to try on the neckpieces given by the Coca-Cola 5by20 Artisans. The neckpieces were made by the women artisans from the pull tabs of Coca-Cola products.

“It is a really proud moment for us. For the candidates, and even the universe, to see our creations,” said Marlene Nival, one of the 14 Coca-Cola 5by20 artisan women who personally gave their handcrafted neckpieces to the candidates of the 65th Miss Universe Pageant. The women are joined by James Debauden, project coordinator of the Coca-Cola 5by20 Artisan Women of Tondo.

LBC's newest TV commercial : The Anthem for the Joy of Moving it for Filipinos all over the world - Aming Ligaya

Filipinos are known to do anything for their respective families’ sake. That’s why millions and millions of Filipinos choose to leave the comforts of their own homes to look for better paying jobs – whether in other cities or abroad – carrying with them the hope of giving their families a better and more comfortable life.

Arranged by Tomas Vinoya of Digitrax, LBC’s new anthem, Aming Ligaya, draws inspiration from this same passion and perseverance because, more than anything else, LBC values the Filipino family and the importance of connecting each and every member wherever in the world they may be.

Through an inspirational melody heavily influenced by impassioned rhymes from local hip-hop artists, the song expounds on the great lengths LBC is willing to go through in order to deliver, because LBC understands the sacrifice one has to go through to just send money, package or balikbayan box home. LBC understands that the packages they send are not merely boxes of pasalubong, but boxes of stories, hope, care and longing meant to give a sense of comfort and being at home.

Aming Ligaya encapsulates LBC’s willingness to go out of its route, explore unchartered territories, or brave adverse weather conditions for every delivery, reassuring its customers that no matter what happens, LBC will deliver happiness to every Filipino home anywhere in the country – from Laoag to Jolo.

This anthem reassures everyone that with LBC’s pride and joy in moving,
"Aming ligaya ang mag hatid ng inyong saya, Lagyan ng Kulay ang Buhay at pag-ibig ang padala"

UASHMAMA now in Manila, Eco-friendly, stylish and practical products from Tuscany

The next big thing

WASHABLE PAPER – sounds like an oxymoron, right? But it does exist, and it’s now conveniently available in the Philippines.

Five years ago, an Italian family-run business called “Le Sorelle” (The Sisters) from Montecatini in Tuscany, Italy, came up with the novel idea to add products made of washable paper to their existing line. Marco Marconi, the head of the family toyed with this idea having had an extensive background in leather and women’s footwear. After coming across a material called cellulose fiber, he spent years researching and experimenting on how this material could be used later on.

As such, he eventually discovered “washable paper” through the use of virgin cellulose fiber. Like leather, this fiber can be stretched and tanned to withstand washing and daily use. The resulting material is something that looks and feels like leather but is much lighter and can also be washed and folded easily.

The beginning of something great

Because of this, the Uashmama brand was born, delivering products that are 100 percent made in Italy by local artisans. They then chose the name Uashmama for their signature line of products made with washable paper – “uash” because this paper is washable and “mama” as a fitting tribute to the family’s matriarch.

Starting with traditional bread bags, the Uashmama brand slowly gained a following in their community, with restaurants in the neighborhood becoming their first big clients. Soon after, customers at these restaurants started to take notice of the unique “paper bags” and demand for the products eventually grew.

By and by, Uashmama has extended its product range to offering home, table, and fashion lines, with its iconic paper bag remaining to be its bestselling item not just in Italy, but in the different countries that it is now available in.

Aside from its physical stores in Italy and in Australia, Uashmama has also developed a presence online, attracting more buyers through its official online shops http://www.uashmama.com" www.uashmama.com and www.uashmama.com.au.

Unique and stylish, another reason why people love Uashmama is that it’s also proud to be eco friendly. The virgin cellulose fiber used is made from cultivation and not deforestation. They use vegetable dye to color the fiber and mimosa vegetable extract for tanning the leather components as opposed to chrome tanning. Equally admirable is their support for their community as they also wholeheartedly promote local artisans and provide decent employment in the town of Montecatini.

Through the years, demand for washable paper has grown significantly, prompting several brands to come out with products similar to Uashmama’s. In spite of this, the brand has remained to be the leader for washable paper products. Aside from being the pioneer in this niche market, its products’ quality continues to be superior compared to other brands.

Use it your way

Described to be “used for anything and everything” and “looks great anywhere”, fans of the Uashamama brand are happy to use it as a storage solution for their home, plant pot covers, bread bags, containers for fruits and vegetables, kitchen utensils, bathroom accessories, make-up brushes, towels, magazines, blankets, the list can go on and on. It really depends on your needs and imagination on how you want to utilize this cool, new product.

In addition to being a great product for the home, Uashmama also has a chic line of handbags and backpacks that are perfect for those who like modern designs that are also highly functional. Great for work, school, or travel, everyone can find a Uashmama bag that’s perfect for them.

Meant to support a greater amount of weight, expect Uashmama products to be infinitely more durable than the average paper bag. The company takes great strides to research and develop ways to constantly improve on their products.

To maintain its quality, it is advisable to handwash Uashmama products – unroll it, then wash it with warm water, using a mild soap or detergent, then dry flat. Uashmama products with brighter colors should be washed separately.

Uashamama bags can last for a long time (some say up to 10 years given the right care) and can be used in a variety of ways. However, it is important to note that while they are washable, Uashmama products are not waterproof – when exposed to rain, water marks may form on them, especially on the lighter colors. These can be easily cleaned with a sponge and a bit of mild soap and water.

Stylish, practical, safe, and eco-friendly – what more can you ask for? As consumers are becoming more discerning about the products that they buy for themselves and for their loved ones, a brand like Uashmama is definitely a godsend. It boasts form, function and so much more.

Uashmama products are available online through www.uash-it.com. It is exclusively distributed in the Philippines by INEXPH Inc.
