Levi’s Brings Back Oversized ‘90s Style And Attitude with Levi’s® SilverTab™ for Fall 2022

Originally launched by the Levi’s® brand a decade earlier, SilverTab™ became the go-to ‘90s collection thanks to its baggy styles inspired hip-hop and the skateboard scene. Just as Levi’s® Orange Tab established the counterculture look of the 1960s and ‘70s, Levi’s® SilverTab™ was the official uniform of the 1990s.

And now, after a brief reboot in 2018 – and a Levi’s® SecondHand capsule in 2020 – SilverTab™ is officially back for Fall 2022 with a brand new oversized, 1990s-inspired collection.

Reviving not only the styles and fits of the original ‘90s SilverTab™ collection, the new ’22 collection also brings back the quintessential attitude of the ‘90s as well. Featuring the original silver-colored tab on the pocket of the denim and the SilverTab™ backpatch, the collection includes a range of oversized jeans, Truckers, and shorts, as well as oversized graphic tees and tops, plus accessories, all of which bring back a sense of ‘90s nostalgia.


Defined by their loose, baggy silhouettes, part of the popularity of the original Levi’s® SilverTabTM line was the fact that few mainstream brands were offering those fits at the time. It was exactly the sort of oversized look that ‘90s skaters and hip-hop artists were looking for. Which gave it just the sort of cultural cache that defined the style of the era. Loose and baggy, cinched and low, washed and faded, with maybe a frayed hem or two. It’s hard to imagine anything more uniquely ‘90s than that.


As part of the new 2022 collection, Levi’s® recreated the same loose, baggy fits—not to mention those perfectly faded washes—that capture the original ‘90s attitude, but with a modern feel. Standout pieces include the ’94 Baggy SilverTab™ jean for women and both the SilverTab™ Loose jean and SilverTab™ Straight jean for men. Each comes in a range of indigo washes and feature the classic silver-colored tab on the back pocket as well as the iconic backpatch with SilverTab™ logo over the Levi’s® Two Horse pull.

The jeans in the collection also get matching oversized SilverTab™ Truckers, which feature the silver-colored tab and SilverTab™ backpatch. #IShapeMyWorld : Levi’s® celebrates fearless Filipino women

MANILA, March, 2017- On International Women’s Day, Levi’s®  #IShapeMyWorld campaign is celebrating the female form, in all its forms, and highlighting stories of extraordinary, fearless women who have shaped the world on their own terms. In a series of online videos, Levi’s® revealed that three extraordinary Filipino women are adding their voices to the #IShapeMyWorld campaign: superbike racer Love-Love Tioseco, nature artist Wiji Lacsamana, and brave mom Jasmine Mendiola.

Because #IShapeMyWorld features the Levi’s® 300 Shaping Series, women with different body types are celebrated together with women from different age groups, backgrounds, and professional fields.

Phenomenal women

The new advocates of the #IShapeMyWorld had their unique battles to win on the path to debunking traditional gender roles and succeeding in their own chosen careers. 



Love-Love became the only female superbike racer from the Philippines in 2000. After 18 years, she remains the only woman racing a 1000cc displacement motorcycle in the Philippines. For Love-Love, the best competitions have been those where she landed a spot on the top five against 15-20 other men. Though she sometimes encounters disparaging comments, she does not let them put her down and stop her from winning more races.
“I have accepted that you cannot please everybody. I love my passion. Criticisms, bashers, haters, none of you guys can put me down.” --- Love-Love said of her critics. 


Artist Wiji’s love for creating things that are readily available from nature gave birth to her homegrown brand Radioactive Mushrooms in the Forest. Wiji believes that it is important to create things that make a positive impact on the environment and future generations. That’s why Wiji only uses natural ingredients for her cosmetics and scents. Even her watercolor tattoos are made of vegan ink.


“Your own little way can help change the world because if you affect one person this way, you inspire them to live this way. Then hopefully they’ll inspire another person and just pay it forward,” Wiji said. 

Mompreneur Jasmine had to go through an emergency hysterectomy when, after giving birth to her third child, she started losing a lot of blood. The doctors had no choice but to remove her uterus, rendering her unable to bear a child again. Despite encountering complications such as acute kidney failure, Jasmine recovered and went on to become a work-from-home mom, a successful bridal makeup expert, and a style and image consultant.



For women who are going through tough times, Jasmine has this advice to share: 

“When you feel that life just gets too much for you for whatever reason, don’t doubt yourself, believe in your own strength and shape your mind according to how you want to live your life.”

Ladies in Levi’s share empowering stories for Women’s Month

Actress, host, model and humanitarian Antonette Taus values comfort above all else, but still believes in the importance of looking good, which is why Levi’s is the best jeans for her, as a brand that values both style and comfort.

In celebrating Women’s Month this year, Levi’s presents successful women to share stories, life hacks, their very own Levi’s experiences, and how the brand empowers them to perform their daily tasks and fulfill their long-term goals. 
Antonette Taus, who runs humanitarian organizations CORA cares and Hashtag Lunchbox PH, loves how Levi’s 710 Skinny that will help her juggle her work as an actress, and her charity work. 

These outstanding female achievers from different industries—host and chef China Cojuangco-Gonzales, model Lou Muñoz, celebrity chef and restaurateur Jackie Laudico, actress and humanitarian Antonette Taus, and sought-after makeup artist and breast cancer awareness advocate Pong Niu—relate how important fashion is to their lifestyles. 




For instance, Cojuangco-Gonzales who admits that her life changed when she embraced motherhood, says she values comfort and flexibility when it comes to clothing. 

She says, “To be honest, I’ve gained a lot of weight since I became a mother and worked as a chef—which doesn’t help at all. I like to wear something that keeps me comfortable and helps me move freely, without being too conscious about my size at the moment.”
Chef Jackie Laudico says Levi’s has always been innovative, helping every woman find the perfect pair of jeans, no matter what shape and size they are. 

Laudico, who spends most of her time in the kitchen, explains that the times have made fashion more relevant for people in her industry. 

As a celebrity chef, Jackie Laudico needs to be well-presented at all times, and Levi’s helps her in this endeavor. 

“At present, there’s what you call celebrity chefs, so people want to meet the personalities behind the food. This makes us more aware of the need to be well-dressed and well-presented all the time,” she adds. 

Taus, who runs humanitarian projects and organizations like Hashtag Lunchbox PH and CORA (Communities Organized for Resource Allocation) Cares, affirms that when it comes to fashion, comfort is the most important factor. “I do not want to be in pain for fashion, but I also believe in looking good, being presentable, and dressing appropriately.”

Taus discloses that jeans have played a huge role in her aim of looking and feeling good. “Since I straddle the entertainment and humanitarian fields, I literally run from one event to another. My life lately has been me living in jeans. But then, even when I was younger, I was always a jeans girl.” 


Ladies living in Levi’s 

On jeans, these ladies agree that Levi’s has always been their most trusted brand. 

“Levi’s gets me through my day, both in style and in comfort, which goes hand in hand for me,” Muñoz happily reveals. 

Niu, meanwhile, asserts that Levi’s jeans greatly helps her perform all her daily tasks. “’Yung work ko kasi, kailangan on-the-go ka. I have to run here and there while being comfortable. Being in Levi’s jeans, with its high-quality material, talagang pasok na pasok siya sa activities ko and sa lifestyle ko.” 

Laudico appreciates how Levi’s has always been an expert, “not just in fit but also in technological innovations, fabrics and finishes, and in making women feel good.”

The celebrity chef even shares her very own ‘live in Levi’s’ story, recalling that her first pair of Levi’s belonged to chef Lau—it was his high school jeans. “Of course, because it was a Levi’s 501, he had kept it all those years. One day, he gave it to me. I loved it so much. It was basically my boyfriend jeans way before there were actually boyfriend jeans. That was my favorite pair of jeans. It was so sturdy—it lasted for 15 years.”

When asked by Levi’s to share advice on how to succeed in life, these remarkable women are generous with their tips. 

Cojuangco-Gonzales claims that the secret is to do what you love while thinking of your future. “There are some people you will encounter in your life na sasabihin na you don’t have to be happy with what you do as long as you have money. This is something I fiercely oppose from the very beginning, kasi syempre, your passion has to be your number one, and then comes your income.”

She adds, “You can follow your dreams and also think of your future. You have to make sure that you will be able to sustain your lifestyle.” 

Lou Muñoz has been in the modeling industry for nine years now, even if she says she does not have the typical model body. She inspires women to embrace who they are and follow their dreams.
Muñoz, meanwhile, reminds ladies to be contented and be responsible. “For me, success is contentment. You have to be fine with what you have. To be confident in your own skin and be socially responsible—that’s very important.”

Taus stresses on the importance of believing in yourself, and fighting for what you believe in. “I insist that nobody should have a reason to think that they’re not strong enough or not man enough. If you believe in what you think is good and true in your heart, and you believe that you have a special set of gifts to fight for what you stand for, then that’s your path.”

Pong Niu, sought-after make-up artist and breast cancer advocate, also values comfort and flexibility in fashion, so she chooses the timeless Levi’s brand. 

Finally, Niu, who is also a breast cancer awareness advocate, advises women to trust in the Lord. “Pray and have a deep connection with the Lord. Remember Psalm 119:50: “My comfort in my suffering is this. Your promise preserves my life.” 

Pong Niu shares what she loves about Levi’s is its soft fabric, comfort and the way it elongates her legs, accentuates her hips and lifts her behind. 
“It sounds like a cliché, but it’s really the Lord we hang on to. We get our strength from the Lord.”

Be your own ‘iconic’: five ways to re-master your Levi’s


We all have at least one old pair of Levi’s jeans that will always be our favorite. For this reason, the timeless brand suggests a clever way to reuse these well-loved pairs and make them even better: re-mastering. This technique inspires us to experiment with Levi’s jeans and personalize these to suit our individual styles. After all, the Levi’s brand has always been about authenticity and originality—and Levi’s pieces are perfect canvasses for self-expression. 

Here, Levi’s very own master tailors share tips and tricks on how to make your Levi’s as original as you are, so you can be your own ‘iconic’. 

• Taper your jeans. If you want a skinnier look for your Levi’s jeans or need to keep your cuffs out for a reason, you can taper its legs. 

Here’s how to do it: first, pin your leg taper and rip out the ankle hems. Trace a line along your pins, and sew this line—this will be the new inseam. Rip out the old inseam; iron your new inseam flat; and sew the ankle hems.


• Get the destructed look. Distressed jeans are all the rage right now—a trend almost as ageless as the Levi’s brand. If you’re thinking of giving your Levi’s jeans an update, distressing is one way to go. 

Try this: With a pen, mark the spot in your jeans where you’d like to distress. Line your denim with a cardboard and cut through the jeans using a dull knife. Do this repeatedly until you achieve the desired effect. Finally, use a razor for a more frayed look. 


• Make cut-offs. Tired of your old pair of Levi’s but have trouble letting it go? Shorten it!

First, choose your desired length. Next, mark this line before making the chop. Then, distress your piece and wash to wrap up the look. Ta-dah, you now have a pair of Levi’s cropped jeans or distressed denim shorts! 



• Add panels to your Levi’s. Give your old Levi’s a touch of rock-and-roll by adding black leather panels. Levi’s master tailors share how-to’s:

First, mark where you want to place your panels, then trace lines on these. Proceed with measuring and marking your black leather fabric, then cut panels to the right size. 

Next, rip out the outside seams within the marks you made. Pin and sew the panels in place. Finally, flip your Levi’s jeans inside out and sew the outside seam closed. 



• Patch it up. Have your favorite Levi’s jeans acquired holes from wear and tear? Patch up holes—and other tears and tatters—with these easy steps:

Get your desired fabric for patching up, and cut this to the right size—just slightly larger than the hole. Pin the fabric in place, and hand-stitch around the hole. Again, use a sharp razor for additional fraying.

Yael Yuzon, Alex Medina headline Levi’s big sale

Levi’s holds a two-day big sale at the Globe Tower to encourage office workers to be productive by wearing clothes that they are comfortable in.
Making a corporate sale event a fun affair, Levi’s brought in Spongecola vocalist Yael Yuzon and award-winning indie actor Alex Medina for a meet-and-greet during Levi’s two-day big sale at one of the biggest telecommunications offices in the country.

The two influencers shared their We Are Original stories with Levi’s and gave some fashion talk and advice to Globe employees.

“These two understand how to excel in their chosen fields. Today, they shared their stories with Levi’s and gave fashion advices to Globe employees so we all just had fun overall,” said Kaths Laudit, Levi’s Marketing head.

During the sale, Levi’s Philippine is pushing its agenda to encourage office workers to be productive by wearing clothes that they are comfortable in.

Spongecola vocalist Yael Yuzon gave some fashion talk and advice to everyone who shopped at the pop-up shop.
Back in the day, dressing for success meant donning predictable and boring office attire that usually meant blazers-and-slacks ensembles for the ladies and dress-shirt-and-tie combos for the gentlemen.

So, this move from Levi’s is a support to millennials and how they are redefining fashion as they do with everything else in their environment—from trends and styles to their choices of fast-fashion brands.

Brandishing the tools of the digital age and touting innovation, the Gen Y—who work mostly in design studios, BPOs, booming start-ups, or any other technology-driven profession—insist on making fashion work for them and not the other way around.

“Comfort equals productivity,” Laudit affirmed. “This event showed that Levi’s likes to evolve with the times and keep up with innovations while promoting comfort as key. In the past, professionals wore their Levi’s and colorful kicks on their off hours, but they now don their Levi’s in the workplace.”

Indeed, the enthusiastic response to the recent event means office fashion is changing and Levi’s is on top of it.

Recently held at the Globe Tower, Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, Levi’s jump-started the event by offering up to 50 percent off on selected Levi’s apparels.

 Levi’s Philippines’ outlet get a new look that boasts its rich heritage.

If you believe in the saying that what you see is what you get, then with Levi’s stores’ new look, you get the compelling story of a brand that has served generations yet remains young, relevant, and trendy.

You get a sense of the global brand’s rich heritage and how the displays tell its stories.

The stores’ new look is part of Levi’s global campaign dubbed “We Are Original,” which celebrates the brand’s rich heritage. 

Be intrigued at how these unfold at each outlet.

Up front, clever window dressing that feature light boxes make an impactful statement about Levi’s 501 Jean CT—the brand’s number 1 product.

“The point is to have different spots for all the items and how these elements come together,” Kaths Laudit, marketing head of Levi’s Philippines, explained.

Gender sensibilities figure in a big way in the styling stories. Women’s clothes are hang because they like to view the full garment and visualize wearing it while men like their jeans and tops folded.

“When men shop, they usually know what their sizes are. It’s easier for them to sort through folded clothes,” Laudit pointed out.

As part of the campaign, Levi’s Philippines offers an in-store promo, which allows shoppers to win instant prizes like tickets to exciting events and Levi’s merchandise.

For a minimum single purchase of any Levi’s Icons and Essentials item (501, 511, CT, Trucker and core tops) worth P3,500 in all original Levi’s store and selected department store nationwide, you get a stub from a box to determine your prize. 

Qualified shoppers can win prizes such as flash drives (USB), Levi’s e-plus card (1 pass), tumblers, and a ticket to Paradise International Music Festival (until April 8 only).
