The iconic PLDT ad ‘Suportahan Ta Ka’ gets a real-life sequel

Love communicated is love received. In these times when young adults have so many choices in their careers, a parent’s support means the world to them as they begin to lead their own lives.

Open and loving communication has always been the message of PLDT. Remember the iconic tagline “Suportahan Ta Ka” from the 2000s TV ad? It’s making a comeback on PLDT’s 95th anniversary campaign.

From the Suportahan Ta Ka TV ad produced by Ace Saatchi & Saatchi, actor and model Christian Vasquez played a young medical student who asked for his dad’s permission if he could shift his degree to Fine Arts. As he confessed his plans, his doctor dad said, “Kung saan ka masaya ti, suportahan ta ka [Whatever makes you happy, I’ll support you!].” This one line immediately became a hit in the 2000s.

Twenty-two years since the TV commercial was launched, Christian Vasquez comes back with a true-to-life story that makes a heartwarming sequel for the iconic ad. Christian, now with two children, faces the same circumstances with his eldest son. On PLDT’s 95th anniversary video, Christian shares his own personal story.

The video tells the story of Christian’s real son, Jason (who also stars in the video), who’s due to take the engineering board exam soon and is at the same time working in an IT company. In the video, Jason is shown stressed and tired while reviewing for his board exam. In an online video call, Jason works up the courage to tell his dad Christian about his plan not to take the board exams and wishes to stay in his IT job.

Christian expresses his disbelief and tries to encourage Jason to take the exam as it will open more opportunities for him being an engineer. Just as he’s about to tell his son off, he suddenly remembers the lesson he learned from his own story from 22 years ago — that he must also show support for his son’s dreams.

At the end of the video, Christian emphatically tells his son that he supports his decision. From his dad’s “Suportahan ta ka,” Christian lets out the line “Palangga Ta Ka,” (which means “I love you”) highlighting his unconditional love and support for his son.

Parents may not always agree with their children’s decisions, but in the end, love and meaningful communication conquer doubt. In the video campaign, PLDT highlights its message of enabling meaningful connection through every generation. From grandparents to parents and their own children, PLDT enables people to make meaningful connections even when they are far apart. Or even when the family may not agree with your decisions — love prevails.

On its 95th anniversary celebration, PLDT reminds families of this powerful message and the importance of love, respect, and kindness in connecting with each other.

Jollibee brings back the all-out joy of Pinoy Christmas in ‘Sarap ng Pasko’ campaign

Jollibee and its creative agency Publicis JimenezBasic (PJB) show the kind of Christmas that Pinoys love and have longed for in the fast-food chain’s latest ad for the holidays. Titled “Sa Jollibee, Sarap ng Pasko!”, the video depicts different exciting reunions and celebrations of families, made even better with best-tasting Jollibee favorites like Chickenjoy, Jolly Spaghetti, and Burger Steak.
Whether dine-in or drive-thru, Jollibee can make families’ Christmas celebrations more delicious and joyful

While the past two Christmases have veered away from the usual holiday festivities that Filipinos are known for, Christmas in 2022 is shaping up to be much brighter and exciting. Pinoys now look forward to making up for the missed celebrations and once again sharing the all-out joy this season – and Jollibee hopes to capture this in the video and its upbeat jingle.

“The campaign is special because in essence, it took two years in the making. This campaign stands for two years of missed reunions, hugs, and long Christmas dinners—things that made Christmas special are now back. This year is the year kung kailan babawi tayo sa sarap at saya, and we’re doing it together with Jollibee,” says Lucas Luchico, Creative Director of PJB.

The beginning of the video shows how past get-togethers were done online—a shared experience of many as everyone navigated pandemic restrictions while making it a point to still connect with loved ones during a challenging time.

“The creative process was a personal one for all of those involved. It was filled with retrospection, and it was a creative expression of our collective wish to bring back the ‘sarap ng Pasko’ that we all miss,” adds Luchico.

The video showcased how Jollibee can be a joyful place for family and friends to have their get-togethers

Jollibee’s latest Christmas ad with PJB shows how Filipinos can make up for the missed celebrations and once again share the all-out joy this season

As Jollibee endeavors to bring back the happy and fun moments people look forward to during the most wonderful time of the year, the rest of the video shows several vignettes of joyful Christmas celebrations. This includes a family going to a brightly lit Jollibee Drive-Thru, a group of friends having their Christmas get-together in a Jollibee store, mascots, store teams and delivery riders happily dancing, and an extended family coming together to celebrate the holidays at their beautifully decorated home.

“We share in our customers’ excitement and joy to once again have the all-out celebrations that Christmas in the Philippines is known for. Through this campaign, we want to remind our customers that Jollibee will always be there to add even more sarap and saya to their gatherings through our great-tasting food. Ginto: Jollibee and McCann Worldgroup Philippines release special Kwentong Jollibee on Hidilyn Diaz’s inspiring journey

While the whole nation rejoiced and celebrated the historic feat of Hidilyn Diaz during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, not everyone knew of the hardships that she had to overcome to reach her dream of winning the country’s first Olympic Gold medal. Now, her story of “lakas at puso” which made all that possible is immortalized in Jollibee’s latest Kwentong Jollibee, “Ginto”.

Jollibee is one with Filipinos in paying tribute to Hidilyn
through her own Kwentong Jollibee short film

The short film chronicles the life-long journey of Hidilyn in typical Kwentong Jollibee fashion – heartwarming, tugs at the heartstrings and filled with life lessons – while aimed at continuing to inspire Filipinos to reach their own dreams.

“We wanted to pay tribute not just to Hidilyn’s victory, but to her strength, heart and resilience, which truly brought joy and uplifted the nation. And we thought it fitting to produce her own Kwentong Jollibee, not just to thank her for her feat but to somehow share her story so that we Filipinos can continue to be inspired by what she has achieved”, said Arline Adeva, Jollibee Philippines Assistant Vice President and Head of Brand PR, Engagement, and Digital Marketing.

Ginto showed how Hidilyn, despite the lockdown and being away from her family,
persevered to reach her golden dream.

“Ginto” is directed by internationally acclaimed and resident Kwentong Jollibee director Pepe Diokno. The latest Kwentong Jollibee film is centered on how Hidilyn has become a champion and a Filipino icon who proved that hard work and grit pays off. “People can expect an inspiring story about dealing with defeat, and winning with perseverance,” he said. Direk Pepe also added that giving hope and providing inspiration was at the core of this latest Kwentong Jollibee film. “I think with the current situation, many Filipinos feel defeated and divided, but Hidilyn’s win gave us strength and brought us together,” he said.

Hidilyn shared that she is honored to have her own Kwentong Jollibee,
and is proud to be part of a well-loved Filipino brand.

For her part, Hidilyn cherished being part of her own, special Kwentong Jollibee. “Lahat naman tayo kilala ang Kwentong Jollibee. Usually, ito yung tungkol sa love and relationships. Masaya lang ako kasi naipakita dito yung love for sports, love for your dream, and love for your country. Sana naipakita namin yung inspirasyon na maidudulot nung Kwentong Jollibee Ginto,” Hidilyn said.
Hidilyn’s Kwentong Jollibee shows how “lakas at puso” are key to achieving your dreams

While Hidilyn’s rise to become a modern-day icon and the country’s pride and joy was well-documented, Jollibee and McCann worked together to creatively tell her story in a way that would make a lasting impact. “Everyone knows her story by now so the challenge was how to shine a new light on her in a way that would inspire and motivate Filipinos who may also be experiencing struggles and challenges,” explained NJ Mijares, Creative Director of McCann Worldgroup Philippines. “With every Kwentong Jollibee we create, we always ask ourselves ‘is this relatable? Will other people feel the same way?’ More so with this one. Because we're telling a story of a very specific person with a very specific achievement, we tried to tell it in a way that mirrors the dreams, the struggles, and the journey of millions of Filipinos.”

#AngPagbabalik ! John Lloyd Cruz first endorsement appearance after two years! Is he coming back to the limelight?

Photos and videos of matinee idol John Lloyd Cruz  have been surfacing after being on hiatus from the showbusiness since 2017.

Cruz, one of the most bankable actors of the Philippine cinema and very effective endorser once again proved that his fans are still waiting for his return. In a teaser video, which lasted only for a few seconds and only shows the back shot of John Lloyd, and posted in the
Facebook page of the number one selling shawarma Turks a few weeks ago had been viewed 3.2M times, shared almost 800 times and gained a huge number of comments.

Without any clue in that teaser video, his fans already assumed that it was him in the video. Even actress Bea Alonzo posted on her Instagram a screenshot of that teaser video, which garnered almost a million likes.

This Monday morning Turks finally revealed in the 1-minute and 17 seconds video of John Lloyd Cruz showing the actor walking through different destinations, which somehow depicts his sojourn. The video is very simple, yet there’s drama the way it was created, and in a very subtle shot, he stopped and took a bite of a Turks pita donner.

The rugged look of John Lloyd Cruz in the Turks video titled Ang Pagbabalik is way too far from his guy-next-door image and a lot of people in the industry are asking if this signals his return to the limelight. His fans are still wondering about the life he’s been living since his hiatus.

According to Turks president Gem L. Zenarosa that during the course of his talks with John Lloyd Cruz, they never talked anything about his showbiz career or plans. He added that he got him as the latest ambassador of Turks because of his great confidence working with him.

“I am really grateful that John Lloyd trusts our company, he is a brilliant and very creative young man. Aside from acting we have discovered some of his remarkable talents,” Zenarosa stressed.

The Ang Pagbabalik according to Zenarosa is actually about Turks Small Pita Doner, which will be available again in all its branches.

“John Lloyd is the best endorser for this because like him, despite his absence in the showbusiness for a couple of years, the warmth and love of his fans for him never dwindles. With our Small Pita Doner we believe that our customers will be happy to know that it is back in our menu,” Zenarosa explained.

Just like Cruz who is seen to have a different image since he last appeared in the big screen, a clear indication that the actor is recreating himself and exploring different grounds, Turks is also doing the same thing to keep its customers excited whenever they visit a branch.

In time for the release of Cruz’s endorsement video, Turks also released to the market its newest offering — Turks Rice Bowl, which is a complete meal. You can choose beef or chicken for your rice topping, and it is priced at P50.00. The Small Pita Donner on the other hand, is priced at P35.00.

“To keep up with the demands of our customers, Turks continues to improve our menu and offerings to satisfy the discriminating taste of our loyal patrons,” Zenarosa stressed.

John Lloyd Cruz now joins the roster of endorsers of Turks such as Piolo Pascual and son Inigo Pascual.

Todo Toppings, Todo Sarap

Joshua’s reaction in the ad when his friends enjoyed their Cheesy Classic Jolly Hotdog without him is perfectly understandable. Regine and Nate Alcasid, the newest Jolly Spaghetti endorsers share their most sweet-sarap moments

“They captured our real lives!” Asia’s Songbird gushes about new Jollibee ad

Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and her son Nate Alcasid sing the song “I Can” together as they are welcomed on stage.

The Asia’s Songbird—Regine Velasquez-Alcasid one of the very few who’s successfully juggled being a singer, actress, record producer, and TV host—there’s one role she loves best: being a mom to her six-year-old son Nate.

(From L-R) Jollibee Brand Engagement Manager Cat Triviño, Brand Manager Kat Silvoza, Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid and her son Nate Alcasid, Marketing Director for Flagship products Cathleen Capati, Brand Engagement Officer Celina Tan.

With an illustrious entertainment career spanning three decades, Regine  has done almost everything, including chart-topping singles and albums, blockbuster movies, high-rated TV shows, and sold-out concerts.

Regine and Nate—who love to spend time just talking to one another about anything and everything under the sun—are the newest members of the Jollibee family and the stars of the latest heartwarming Jolly Spaghetti TV ad.

In the commercial, Regine revisits a familiar scene—a full concert auditorium with thousands of adoring fans—with a sweet-sarap surprise backstage for Nate. The ad goes on to show us special everyday moments between mother and son, with Regine narrating how being a mom has shed new light on day-to-day situations.

This is not the first time Regine and Nate worked on an endorsement together, but she believes that this one with Jollibee is the most special. “The storyboard is so touching and very personal. It shows my different roles as Regine, but it also shows that my greatest one is being a mom, which is the most difficult yet most fulfilling role I have to play,” Regine shared.

Just like real life

Upon first review of the storyboard, Regine said: “Umiyak talaga ako. I said, “pinag-isipan talaga nila.” I’ve never done anything like this, a commercial that celebrates my being a career woman and a mom.”

Asia’s Songbird also shared that this Jollibee ad is inspired by her real life and her thoughts about being a mom. “In the ad, there’s a line where I say “sa lahat ng kinantahan ko, ikaw lang ‘ang nakatulog.” That’s truetalaga! He really sleeps whenever I sing to him. It’s like they captured our real lives!” she said.

Another scene in the commercial that made Regine emotional is when she sings the lines “Pangako magmula ngayon, tayong dalawa ang magkasama,” which is lifted from one of her platinum hits “Pangako.” This song holds special meaning to the songstress as it was composed by her husband Ogie Alcasid.

Sweet-Sarap bonding moments

Since she gave birth to Nate in 2011, Regine has slowed down her professional life to spend more time with her son. The first seven years are the most crucial to a child’s development, as studies show, and the Songbird is determined to make the most of it.

One of their favorite bonding activities is to talk to each other before bed. “He always has a lot of kwento for me at night,” Regine said. “He would always say, “Mommy, last kwento,” but this last story would go on for 20 minutes! But honestly, that’s the highlight of my day. He really loves talking.”

“We also play with toys but they’re not really toys,” Nate shared. “It’s called amenities!”

“He loves hotel supplies like toothbrushes,” Regine explains. “So one time when I was traveling, I brought everything back home to him. He was so happy, akala mo binigyan ko ng special gift. To him, it was really special because he knows I remembered him. I then realized, you can buy your child all the toys you can think of, but what they really want is more time with you.”

Regine’s realization is not lost on Nate, who—despite his parents’ celebrity status—prefers simple bonding activities like going on picnics and playing with Regine and Ogie. To make these bonding moments even sweeter and more fun, there’s always the sweet-sarap Jolly Spaghetti to bring more flavor to the Alcasid family’s special time together.

“When it’s time for merienda, he would say “I want one Jolly Spaghetti, two Chickenjoy legs, and two fries.” When I’m not at home, he would ask to order Jollibee and pay for it with his own money! Hindi niya ako hihintayin!” Regine candidly shared.

“The Jolly Spaghetti is so yummy!” the six-year-old exclaimed. “It’s sweet and cheesy and I can eat a lot of it!”

It’s no wonder why Nate—and other Pinoy kids—love Jolly Spaghetti. The al dente noodles are topped with Jollibee’s unique sweet-sarap sauce, meaty hotdog slices, and a generous sprinkling of grated cheese.

“The Jolly Spaghetti’s unique sweet-sarap, flavors have always had a distinctive place in the hearts of Filipino kids and kids-at-heart, because moments spent with loved ones over a plate of Jolly Spaghetti are made sweeter, more fun, and more special,” said Cathleen Capati, Jollibee Marketing Director. “Regine and Nate’s story is not only heartwarming but also relatable to millions of Filipinos.”

Jollibee Brand Manager Kat Silvoza talks about the sweet-sarap Jolly Spaghetti and how it has delivered countless sweet-saya moments na walang katulad to thousands of Filipino families throughout the decades.
Like Regine and Nate, make your family bonding moments more special with the sweet-sarap na walang katulad Jolly Spaghetti. Aga Muhlach and family do again “Isa pang Chickenjoy!”

The Muhlachs are back again for “Isa pang Chickenjoy!”

For the Muhlachs—a prominent celebrity family consisting of Aga, Charlene, and their twins Atasha and Andres  there is only one brand that comes to mind when you talk about fried chicken: Jollibee Chickenjoy.

Aga Muhlach talks about his experience as Jollibee’s Chickenjoy endorser.

Last Sunday at the media conference, Aga shared how the twins have grown and how the whole family shared many happy moments with Jollibee. Aga and family recount how long the fastfood has been part of their lives.

Aga shared why Jollibee Chickenjoy will always be his family’s favorite fried chicken. The Muhlach's presents epic flashback. Twelve years after they all starred in their first Jollibee commercial as a family back in Christmas 2006, the first commercial endorsement of the twins who were 4 years old at the time and rarely seen in public.

From L to R: Jollibee Brand PR and Engagement Specialist Celina Tan; Assistant Brand Manager Shaun Si; Marketing Director for Flagship Products Cathleen Capati; Global Chief Marketing Officer and Philippines Head of Marketing Francis Flores; Aga, Charlene, Atasha and Andres Muhlach; Senior Brand Manager for Chickenjoy Joseph Aruta; Assistant Brand Manager Pamie Cruz; and Brand PR and Engagement Manager Cat Triviño.

Jollibee, the country’s number one fast-food brand has always been known for its wide variety of offerings. They have delighted taste buds and captured the hearts of Filipino diners for four decades now. Of course, the most famous offering is Chickenjoy: a crispylicious, juicylicious, gravylicious favorite that continues to thrill Filipinos of all ages, across different generations.

The Muhlachs along with scores of Filipino families all over the country and the world, consider Chickenjoy as the delicious centerpiece to countless bonding moments.

The latest Chickenjoy TV commercial, which started airing in January 2018, brings another side of the Muhlach family to the fore. In this ad, Aga reminisces key moments in his life as he remembers how Chickenjoy has been a huge part of their family bonding moments through the years.

Like any other family, the Muhlachs treat mealtime as a perfect opportunity for fun family bonding; and as a way to celebrate each other’s company with a favorite they have grown to love through the years.

‘Mula noon, hanggang ngayon’

The new Chickenjoy ad is more of a reunion for the Muhlachs’ with the 40-year-old homegrown fast-food brand. Aga—with his matinee idol looks and signature dimples—has always been closely associated with Chickenjoy through a series of fun, memorable commercials for Jollibee. This dates back from his bachelor days up to today as he has grown into an upstanding family man.

“Talagang mula noon, hanggang ngayon, Chickenjoy has been a constant presence in my life,” Aga shared. “Not only because of all the projects I did with Jollibee, but because it really is my favorite fried chicken. From the crispylicious skin to the juicylicious, malinamnam meat that you dip in the gravy, Chickenjoy really hits the spot when it comes to flavor na ‘di ko malilimutan.”

This love for Chickenjoy is something that the actor has shared with his family up to now with the teenage Atasha and Andres, who also appeared in several Chickenjoy commercials as young children.

“And the twins really do the ‘isa pa! isa pang Chickenjoy’ thing because they really love (the product). They grew up with Chickenjoy, and they know that when it comes to fried chicken, talaga namang best sa sarap ang Chickenjoy,” he added.

“Throughout the years, Chickenjoy has always been a classic favorite for many Pinoy families because of the unparalleled flavor and dining experience it delivers,” said Cathleen Capati, Jollibee Marketing Director for Flagship Products. “The love for our crispylicious, juicylicious, and gravylicious offering is something that one grows up with, and is eventually passed on to the younger generation, like with Aga and his family. This tradition of heartwarming family moments made even more joyful with Chickenjoy is something that we at Jollibee hope to encourage and foster for the years to come.”

Like the Muhlachs, celebrate family bonding time with a time-tested classic from Jollibee! Savor every crispylicious and juicylicious bite of Chickenjoy today, available for dine-in, take-out, delivery, and drive-thru in all Jollibee stores nationwide.
